QUALITY INSPECTOR

JOB SUMMARY

Perform inspections, checks and tests on incoming parts, sub-assemblies, and finished goods. Proactively identify and document quality issues, take appropriate action and elevate if required to resolve. Support internal and external customers in regards to product, inspection and quality issues, including those activities involved with the in-process inspection program. Responsible for specific quality programs as assigned.   Support the company-wide ISO quality and continuous improvement.   Record quality and process observations; complete inspection reports and other documentation. Maintain department files and records.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Work from drawings and specifications to set up and perform incoming, in process, cosmetic and final inspections on vendor and in-house parts; sub-assemblies; and finished parts. Utilize inspection tools, including: calipers, micrometers, gage pins, and specialized equipment.
  • Record observations in a thorough and accurate manner. Complete all inspection documentation, including technical reports as required.   Maintain department files and records both in hard copy form and electronically, including in Delta Pacific’s ERP system. Utilize Quality software programs to record and manage non-conformities and corrective actions.
  • Support the in-process inspection program. Work with the production team, inspect work in process, and identify non-conformities and areas of concern. Communicate quality issues to production management and elevate as necessary.
  • Support quality department programs, including machine maintenance, calibration and audits, as assigned. Maintain program documentation.
  • Insure the accuracy of current drawings, specifications, and procedures to improve overall product quality and reduce problems/failures.
  • Maintain the quality work areas in a safe, clean, and organized (6S) manner. Properly maintain all department tools and equipment. Perform certain maintenance and calibration duties as specified.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support culture of continuous improvement by utilizing Lean tools and techniques to reduce/eliminate NVA (non-value add) activity.
  • Represent Quality and contribute on a special assignment basis, including but not limited to Material Review Boards (MRB), production meetings, product releases, and company activities, etc.

  • Support the achievement of the Business Development Objectives (BDOs) and goals.
  • Champion the company and departmental Mission and Values.
  • Produce high quality work, at an output that insures the timely completion of all tasks.
  • Thoroughly and accurately document quality issues per department procedures.   Proactively communicate issues, written and/or verbally, in a professional and effective manner.
  • Understand and strictly adhere to department and Company-wide ISO procedures and work instructions.
  • Receive positive feedback from internal and external customers, in regards to provided services.
  • Sustain all work areas in a safe, clean, orderly, and lean manner (6S).
  • Arrive to work on a daily basis, on time and ready to perform.   Provide appropriate notice for absences.

INTERACTIONS  

  • Work under the guidance of the Quality Department Lead, Quality Supervisor, and Quality Manager.
  • Maintain productive and positive working relationships with all team members and internal customers, and if required, external customers.
  • Ability to work within the quality team and cross-functionally to problem solve, accomplish job tasks, projects, goals and Lean/Kaizen activities.
  • Willing to accept job performance feedback and take appropriate improvement action. Convey concerns to superiors in a professional manner.
  • Communicate and provide feedback on improvement ideas and personal goals.

JOB REQUIREMENTS  

Qualifications:

REQUIRED

  • High School Degree or equivalent.
  • Proven experience with ISO.
  • Familiarity with GDT (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance) standards and use of inspection equipment (including gauges, micrometers, calipers, etc.) and has the ability to read and interpret drawings.
  • Acute attention to detail with a commitment to excellence and high standards.
  • Excellent verbal, listening, application and written communication skills.
  • Good decision making abilities, which will enable the employee to set priorities, and know when to involve a superior, or handle an issue individually.
  • Versatile, flexible, and willing to work within constantly changing priorities. Self-directed with the ability to manage workflow and envision next steps for assigned projects; results driven.
  • Good computer skills, including the use of: Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat.   Ability to learn Delta Pacific specific computer programs, including the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system and quality software.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language used in the workplace: English.

PREFERRED

  • Some college or technical class work
  • Medical device industry experience
  • ISO 9001 and 13485; ISO Lead Auditor certified
